It is the largest as well as the wealthiest cities in South Africa. The main booming business of the city is trading in gold and diamonds as it is found in abundance. Sadly there are no lakes, beaches and rivers in this city as compared to other South African cities. But yes one can find plenty of entertainments in form of nightlife, clubs, pubs, museums, restaurants, shopping malls, art & craft galleries and cinemas. This city is well connected with rest of the world by means of its airport, The Johannesburg International airport or the Tambo Airport which is just 22 km from the city. Other modes of transport include buses, private taxis and trains. The summers are from Oct – April and are warm and dry and the afternoon thundershowers keep the climate cool. The winters are blessed with good sunshine all the year around and the months are from June – July, over all this city has a nice welcoming weather.

• The Johannesburg Art Gallery which is considered to be an important museum which has the finest collection of African art. It also has remarkable collection of some of the masters of Fine Arts like Picasso, Rodin, Degas and Pissarro.
• The Johannesburg zoo is an ideal destination for the animal lovers and it is a famous old zoo which is made on an area of 54 hectares and is a home to more than 3000 species of wild animals.
• The Nelson Mandela National Museum is worth visiting, this building earlier was his residence and it is located in Soweto but later on it was converted into a museum.
